Getting to know Brentwood
Brentwood ranges from the commercial streets of San Vicente to large lots north of Sunset and winding canyon roads. Brentwood School has elementary and secondary campuses; Kenter Canyon Elementary Charter is a public option. The Getty Center, UCLA and Westwood’s medical district are local landmarks and work anchors, though the 405 can dictate the commute.
San Vicente Boulevard is a neighborhood dining axis: Pizzana is one well-known stop, and markets and cafes make the corridor useful beyond dinner. The farther a home sits up a canyon, the more its driveway, road and fire-access conditions matter. School eligibility and development status should be checked address by address.
The Brentwood that changes by street
San Vicente’s coral-tree median, the blocks around Barrington and the canyon roads north of Sunset belong to very different routines. The Brentwood Country Mart opened in 1948 with shops around a courtyard; it remains an easy landmark at the western edge. Brentwood Park has larger estates, while Mandeville adds longer, winding drives. Our historical $8 million Westgate sale is a local reference, but the same property sold for more in 2025, so we would never present the old price as a current valuation.
Newer dining and coffee, old neighborhood stops
Pizzana is a San Vicente staple. Neighborly opened on San Vicente in 2026 with several food counters, including Mini Kabob. Terroni opened on Barrington Place in July; Layla Bagels & Coffee is another newer Barrington stop. The Mart is near the Santa Monica city line, and not every Brentwood address is an easy walk to each place. We check the route, especially from a canyon home.
Green space and golf
Barrington Recreation Center has sports fields, courts and community programs. The Getty Center sits above the 405, and the trails in the Santa Monica Mountains draw hikers farther into the hills. Brentwood Country Club is a private golf club, not a public amenity or an automatic privilege of a nearby property. Verify club access separately from an address.
Development and schools need exact addresses
Construction began at 11905 Wilshire in 2026 on an 81-apartment project with ground-floor commercial space. It is not yet open retail. The San Vicente village and the Wilshire corridor affect different blocks. Kenter Canyon Elementary Charter and Brentwood School are educational options, but public boundaries, private admissions and the daily trip must be checked against the property.
Check the specific address: school eligibility, access, insurance, permits and commute depend on the property.
